UTPSN Endorses the Dignity Act as an Important Step Toward Protecting Long-Term TPS Holders
United for TPS Nepal (UTPSN) is pleased to endorse the bipartisan Dignity Act as an important and pragmatic step toward providing long-overdue stability for long-term Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, including the members of the Nepali TPS community.
For more than a decade, Nepali TPS holders have lived, worked, paid taxes, raised families, purchased homes, started businesses, and become valued contributors to the American economy and society. Today, however, many are losing their immigration status and work authorization, placing families, employers, and communities in an increasingly precarious situation. The need for congressional action has never been more urgent.
UTPSN's ultimate goal remains unchanged: Permanent residency for long-term TPS holders. We continue to believe that this is the only just and lasting solution. However, we must also recognize the current political reality. While comprehensive immigration reform remains our aspiration, we cannot allow the pursuit of the ideal to prevent us from achieving meaningful relief that is attainable today.
The Dignity Act offers an opportunity to restore work authorization, provide stability for families, and allow long-term TPS holders to continue contributing to the country they have called home for many years. While it is not the permanent solution we ultimately seek, it is a meaningful step in the right direction.
History teaches us that meaningful reform is often achieved through incremental progress. Accepting a practical bipartisan compromise today does not mean abandoning our principles - it means protecting our community today while continuing to fight for permanent residency tomorrow.
We therefore encourage our members, allies, and the broader immigrant rights community to approach this moment with both hope and pragmatism. We can support immediate relief while continuing to advocate for a permanent legislative solution.
Our message is simple: Supporting the Dignity Act is not giving up on permanent residency - we are fighting strategically to achieve it.
UTPSN respectfully urges members of Congress from both parties to support the Dignity Act and continue working toward a permanent solution for long-term TPS holders. This is not the end of our journey - it is an important step towards justice, certainty, stability, and the opportunity to permanently call the United States home.

United for TPS Nepal (UTPSN) ले दीर्घकालीन Temporary Protected Status (TPS) होल्डरहरू, विशेष गरी नेपाली TPS समुदायका लागि लामो समयदेखि आवश्यक रहेको स्थायित्व प्रदान गर्ने दिशामा महत्वपूर्ण र व्यावहारिक कदमको रूपमा द्विदलीय Dignity Act लाई हाम्रो समर्थन प्रदान गरेको घोषणा गर्न पाउँदा खुशी व्यक्त गर्दछ।
एक दशकभन्दा बढी समयदेखि नेपाली TPS होल्डरहरू अमेरिकामा वैधानिक रूपमा बसोबास गर्दै, काम गर्दै, कर तिर्दै, परिवार हुर्काउँदै, घर खरिद गर्दै, व्यवसाय सञ्चालन गर्दै तथा अमेरिकी अर्थतन्त्र र समाजमा महत्वपूर्ण योगदान पुर्याउँदै आएका छन्। तर आज, हाम्रा धेरै सदस्यहरूले आफ्नो आप्रवासनको स्टेटस र काम गर्ने अनुमति पत्र गुमाउँदै छन्, जसले गर्दा उनीहरूका परिवार, रोजगारदाता र स्थानीय समुदायहरूलाई झन् जटिल र असुरक्षित अवस्थामा पुर्याएको छ। यस्तो अवस्थामा अमेरिकी कंग्रेसबाट तत्काल सार्थक कदम चालिनु अत्यन्तै आवश्यक भएको छ।
UTPSN को अन्तिम लक्ष्य अपरिवर्तित छ: दीर्घकालीन TPS होल्डरहरूका लागि स्थायी बसोबास (Permanent Residency)। हामी अझै पनि यही नै न्यायोचित र दीर्घकालीन समाधान हो भन्ने कुरामा विश्वास राख्दछौं। तर, हामीले वर्तमान राजनीतिक यथार्थलाई पनि स्वीकार गर्नुपर्छ। व्यापक आप्रवासन सुधार हाम्रो आकांक्षा भए पनि, आदर्श समाधानतर्फ लाग्दै गर्दा, हाल प्राप्त गर्न सकिने अर्थपूर्ण राहत गुमाउन हामी सक्दैनौं।
Dignity Act ले TPS होल्डरहरूको काम गर्ने अनुमति पत्र पुनःस्थापित गर्ने, परिवारलाई स्थायित्व प्रदान गर्ने, र वर्षौंदेखि आफ्नो घर बनाएको देशमा उनीहरूलाई निरन्तर योगदान गर्न सक्ने अवसर प्रदान गर्दछ। यो हामीले अन्ततः चाहेको स्थायी समाधान होइन, तर सही दिशातर्फको एउटा महत्वपूर्ण कदम अवश्य हो।
इतिहासले हामीलाई सिकाएको छ कि दिगो सुधार प्रायः क्रमिक प्रगतिबाट हासिल हुन्छ। आज व्यावहारिक द्विदलीय सम्झौतालाई स्वीकार गर्नु भनेको आफ्ना सिद्धान्तहरू त्याग्नु होइन; यसको अर्थ आज आफ्नो समुदायलाई सुरक्षित राख्दै भोलि स्थायी बसोबासका लागि संघर्ष जारी राख्नु हो।
त्यसैले हामी आफ्ना सदस्यहरू, सहयोगीहरू तथा सम्पूर्ण आप्रवासी अधिकार आन्दोलनसँग आबद्ध सबैलाई आशा र व्यावहारिक सोचका साथ यो अवसरलाई हेर्न आग्रह गर्दछौं। हामी तत्काल राहतको समर्थन गर्दै, स्थायी विधायकी समाधानका लागि आफ्नो वकालतलाई निरन्तर अघि बढाउनेछौं।
हाम्रो सन्देश सरल छ: हामी स्थायी बसोबासको लक्ष्यबाट पछि हटेका छैनौं। हामी त्यहाँ पुग्न रणनीतिक रूपमा संघर्ष गरिरहेका छौं।
UTPSN दुवै दलका कंग्रेस सदस्यहरूलाई Dignity Act लाई समर्थन गर्न तथा दीर्घकालीन TPS होल्डरहरूका लागि स्थायी समाधानतर्फको प्रयासलाई निरन्तर अघि बढाउन हार्दिक आग्रह गर्दछ। यो हाम्रो यात्राको अन्त्य होइन। यो हाम्रो समुदायले वर्षौंदेखि आर्जन गरेको न्याय, स्थायित्व र स्थायी समाधानतर्फको एउटा महत्वपूर्ण कदम हो।
